A UK food transport company has plunged into administration after just three years in business. During its short life, it referred to itself on social media as the “best in class tracking and routing software”. Also, a “leading food distributor across the UK.”

Based in Tonbridge, Kent, the company took pride in its facilities designed exclusively for “temperature-sensitive goods,” its website states. It also claimed to be committed to “providing a cost-effective, highly efficient service” that allowed them to meet their customer’s individual needs.

BMB Logistics entered administration on June 12, 2026. Steve Kenny and Richard Cole of KBL Advisory were appointed as joint administrators. While no reason for the administration has yet been disclosed by the appointed administrators, Companies House records show BMB Logistics had overdue accounts at the time of its administration. The company, which was incorporated in January 2022, had not filed accounts due by 30 April 2026.

The company still has a colourful Instagram and claims to be a proud sponsor of the Larkfield Under 7s. Their account, which was created in 2022, has 59 posts and 157 followers. However, according to Google, BMB Logistics has just one review. The one-star review reads: “Got threatened by someone in here for parking, rather than helping me and telling me where I could park, just got told ‘I don’t care, move your car or I’ll clamp it.’”

It comes after a UK furniture retailer plunged into administration after facing tough trading conditions over the years. Airsprung, which makes mattresses and beds for major retailers, has been in the business for 150 years.

Based in Canal Road, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, the company has faced mounting cashflow pressures in the past few months. In an effort to address these issues, Airsprung explored potential investment opportunities and possible offers for the business. However, due to the company’s financial position and the nature and level of interest received, the directors ultimately had no option but to place the company into administration.

Of its 202 employees, 71 were made redundant upon appointment, while those remaining were retained to assist with the business’s ongoing operations. The company has also produced beds for hotels and filling for sports stadium seating under brands Gainsborough and Airofreem.

On May 1, Edward Williams and Ross Connock, of PwC, were appointed joint administrators of Airsprung Group PLC and Airsprung Furniture Limited.

Mr Williams said: “It’s very sad that this well-known business with 150 years of history and iconic brands within the mattress and bed industry has had to go into administration. We know that this is an unsettling time for everyone impacted, and we will support employees through the redundancy process.”

Marks and Spencer is set to open a new store in the south west of England six months earlier than it originally planned. Shoppers will soon be welcomed to a new superstore at Weymouth Gateway Retail Park in Dorset on July 15.

M&S is known for its quality food, homeware and clothing, with more than 1,000 stores across the UK. The new shop will be home to a food hall and cafe as well as housing clothing, home and beauty items.

It will also feature the chain’s in-store bakery which sells a range of pastries, cakes, cookies, breads and doughnuts.

Charles Pinner, the regional manager at M&S, said: “We are excited to reveal that our brand-new Weymouth Gateway full-line store will open this summer.

“We expect the opening to create 50 new local jobs and are looking for colleagues who are passionate about serving customers and raising the bar in retail to join the team.”

Around 60 staff members who already work for a nearby M&S will be offered a role at the shop.

In 2024, the planning application was approved by Dorset Council, reports The Sun.

M&S are running a multi-million pound relocation project with investments into its supermarket stores. The new store will replace the St Mary Street branch.

M&S first started in 1884, when Michael Marks came to the north of England and managed to secure a stall at Kirkgate Market in Leeds.

He built his success using the slogan “Don’t ask the price, it’s a Penny”. The stall, which sold simple homewares, was soon thriving.

To support his growing business, Michael joined forces with Tom Spencer, a cashier from wholesalers Dewhirst.

From this partnership, the business began to take shape and eventually turned into the M&S we know today.

Telford & Wrekin Council said it is “committed to supporting residents and businesses affected by difficult circumstances, including those impacted by the immediate closure of TGI Fridays at Telford Centre”. It added: “For employees now facing redundancy, a range of practical support is available to help them take the next step towards new employment, training or reskilling opportunities.” The council said residents looking for a new role can get free help including CV advice and guidance on job opportunities.

Council cabinet member Councillor Shirley Reynolds said: “We know this is an incredibly difficult time for the employees and families affected by the sudden closure of TGI Friday’s. 

“Our priority is to ensure people know that support is available right now. 

“Whether it’s help updating your CV, accessing new training, or connecting with local employers, our teams are here to provide one‑to‑one support to help residents move forward with confidence.”

More than 450 TGI Fridays staff members were made redundant earlier this week after outlets across England and Wales were closed.

The American-style dining chain on Wednesday said most of its sites will remain open after a rescue deal was secured.

Liberty Bar and Restaurant Group, the company that runs TGI Fridays’ UK restaurants, appointed administrators from Interpath Advisory on Tuesday.

They immediately sold the business and its assets to a subsidiary of Sugarloaf, the firm behind the global TGI Friday brand.

Sugarloaf had bought the UK business two months earlier from private equity firm Calveton UK and Breal Capital.

Administrators confirmed the pre-pack administration deal would safeguard 33 restaurants and transfer 1,384 workers to the new vehicle.

“We have been working closely to explore all available options for securing the long-term future of TGI Fridays in the UK, and believe that this is the best outcome for the business, preserves jobs, and offers a strong platform for success and growth,” said Phil Broad, global president of TGI Fridays.

This week, the UK Hospitality trade body warned more than 2,000 pubs, restaurants and hotels could shut their doors this year unless the Government makes sector-wide changes to “staggering” incoming business rate increases.
