Meituan’s food delivery brand Keeta expands into Kuwait

Keeta, the international brand of China-based food delivery company Meituan, has launched its services in Kuwait.

This signifies its third venture in the Middle East and follows the brand’s expansions into Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Kuwait’s high GDP per capita, significant online food delivery penetration, and consumer demand for quality takeaway services were key factors in Keeta’s decision to expand into the country, as per a report by China Daily.

The brand’s ambitions in Kuwait include broadening its restaurant and supply base, driving product innovation, and providing customers with affordable delivery options.

The company is also committed to fostering the digitalisation of the restaurant sector and backing the growth of merchants and riders as partners in creating a mature ecosystem, added the report.

Supported by Meituan’s global infrastructure, which handles over 150 million orders a day for more than 770 million users, Keeta aims to blend technology with an understanding of local preferences.

The Kuwait platform features a diverse range of restaurants, including local brands such as Naif Chicken, Dipndip, and Shrimpie, as well as international brands.

China Daily also highlighted that Keeta has observed an increase in its user base and order volume from its entry into Saudi Arabia last year. The brand’s launch in Qatar took place last month.

According to the publication, Keeta plans to deepen its footprint in the Middle East and is exploring opportunities to venture into additional overseas markets.

In 2023, Keeta expanded operations into Hong Kong.
